Glen Oaks baseball was defeated 11-2 Saturday in the first game of a four-game weekend series at Dyersburg State Community College in Tennessee. Despite the lopsided final, the game was tight through the first five innings with the Eagles only leading 5-2 at that point. A six run sixth inning put things out of reach.
The Vikings scored in the fourth inning when Peyton Simmons picked up an RBI single to bring in Brady Mescher. In the fifth inning, Brayden Clark had a sacrifice fly to right field that brought home Jackson Stewart. Simmons had two of GOCC's five hits in the game.
Samuel Dunlavy was the starting pitcher for Glen Oaks, going four and two thirds innings with four hits, five earned runs, and six walks allowed with three strikeouts. Dyersburg State's Cole Cates got the win with five innings, four hits, two earned runs, two walks, and four strikeouts.
