Viking men come up short in Kalamazoo
Cougars pocket MCCAA win.
The Glen Oaks Community College men's basketball team couldn't quite close the gap Saturday in an 89-78 loss at Kalamazoo Valley. The Vikings were within a possession or two at several points in the MCCAA Western Conference Contest, but the Cougars held on to improve to 5-2 in the league and remain a half a game behind Western Conference-leading Grand Rapids at the top of the standings.
Glen Oaks, which fell to 8-12 overall, is still searching for its first conference win of the season.
Joreim Lomax led GOCC with 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting, Darius Styles poured in 18 and Amauri Moore finished with 17. Keri Foster added 9 points, Jordan Pisco and Akin Smith both had 4, Kelvion Brown added 3, and Jaiden Stamps and Wesley Roberts both finished with 2.
Moore paced the Vikings with 9 rebounds, Brown grabbed 8 and also led the squad with four assists.
GOCC is back in action Monday at Ancilla for a game that has been rescheduled three times due to weather.
