GOCC men hammer Ancilla
Vikings light it up in the second half.
With a seven-point halftime lead, the Glen Oaks Community College men's basketball team shifted into overdrive over the final 20 minutes for a 104-73 victory Monday at Ancilla College.
The win snapped a six-game skid for the Vikings, who had offensive production from all 10 players. Akin Smith led GOCC with 20 points, and Amauri Moore (15), Darius Styles (14), Kelvion Brown (13) and Keri Foster (10) each reached double figures.
Jordan Pisco, Wesley Roberts and Joreim Lomax each finished with eight points, Marlon Gaitan knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, and Jaiden Stamps added two points. Glen Oaks went 9-for-11 at the free-throw line for the game and connected on six triples in the second half to pull away.
The Vikings improved to 9-12 overall and 1-6 in MCCAA Western Conference play. They travel to Lansing Thursday with a chance to shake up the conference as the Stars are currently in a four-way tie atop the standings with Grand Rapids, Lake Michigan and Kalamazoo Valley.
