With only a five-point lead at intermission, Grand Rapids Community College shifted to overdrive in the second half to log a 99-80 men's basketball victory Wednesday at Glen Oaks.
The Raiders shot over 50 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes to pull away, improving to 20-6 overall and 10-2 in the MCCAA Western Conference. The Vikings, who slipped to 10-16 overall and 2-10 in the league, struggled from deep, making just 1 of 13 attempts from behind the arc in the second half and going 4-for-25 for the game.
Keri Foster led Glen Oaks with 19 points, Joreim Lomax finished with 18 and Akin Smith had 15. Kelvion Brown and Amauri Moore both chipped in eight points, Darius Styles logged six, and Wesley Roberts, Jaiden Stamps and Marlon Gaitan had two apiece.
Moore, Stamps and Brown led the Vikings with seven rebounds each, and Smith ended the game with four steals.
Matthew Richards paced Grand Rapids with 24 points, followed by McRecco McFadden, who had 22.
