Four GOCC men's basketball players win league awards
Moore, Smith, Lomax and Foster recognized by MCCAA.
The Michigan Community College Athletic Association released its list of men's basketball award winners Wednesday and Glen Oaks Community College was well represented.
Sophomore guard/forward Amauri Moore (Hammond, IN) was an All-MCCAA Western Conference Second Team selection following a season where he posted 14.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He shot 55.5 percent from the field and had 18 steals and 26 blocks in his final season at GOCC. For his career, he logged 712 points, 380 rebounds, 97 assists, 29 steals and 26 blocks.
The Vikings boasted three players on the All-MCCAA Western Conference Honorable Mention Team in Joreim Lomax, Akin Smith and Keri Foster.
Indianapolis native Smith, a sophomore forward, had 12 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assist per game in his last year competing for the Vikings. He ended his career here with 538 points, a 43.7 shooting percentage, 18 blocks, 43 steals, 84 assists and 255 rebounds.
Lomax (Brownsburg, IN), a freshman guard, shot 44.3 percent from the field en route to 12.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and around one assist per contest. He hit 42 3-pointers, grabbed 123 rebounds and logged 12 blocks and 18 steals.
Foster, a freshman guard hailing from Miami, finished the year with 8.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, two assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the field.
