Viking softball squad hammers Henry Ford
Glen Oaks closes Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic with another win.
Glen Oaks softball finished the weeklong trip to South Carolina Friday in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic. The Vikings closed it out in dominant fashion with a 12-1 victory over Henry Ford College. GOCC went 5-3 for the trip and won their final four games.
The runs were spread out against the Hawks with three in the first inning, one in the fourth, two in the fifth, two in the sixth, and four in the seventh. In the first, Brady Lesher hit an inside-the-park home run to give Glen Oaks the early 3-0 lead.
Ava Mejia had a great outing in the circle, tossing six innings with nine strikeouts, one unearned run, two hits, and three walks. Brenna Meyer pitched the final inning clean.
Lesher had two hits, three RBI, and two runs. The Vikings had 12 hits in total with two-hit games for Sage Pruett, Jaden Adams, Sierra Carpenter, and Ava Mejia. Each of those players scored once. Sierra Smith had two runs and Kacie Scott picked up two RBI.
Glen Oaks softball returns to Michigan on Tuesday, March 19 to start league play at Lake Michigan College. The home opener is Friday, March 22 against Marian University's Ancilla.
