Glen Oaks softball sweeps Ancilla
Vikings pick up 5-2 and 17-1 wins.
Glen Oaks softball earned a 5-2 home victory in the first game of their doubleheader Friday against Marian University's Ancilla College. The Vikings scored solo runs in the third, fifth, and sixth innings while adding two in the fourth. The Charger runs were split between the first and fourth.
Dakota Sigler held Ancilla to only three hits in her complete game victory. Sigler struck out eight while allowing two unearned runs and two walks. Offensively, Sigler also had a triple and a single.
Kacie Scott had a solo home run and a single, scoring twice. Jaden Adams doubled and singled with two runs and one RBI. Sierra Carpenter had a triple and single with one RBI. Faith Kline also doubled. The Vikings had nine hits total.
In Game 2, Glen Oaks softball completed the home sweep of Ancilla, rolling to a 17-1 drubbing. The run rule ended the game after five innings. The Vikings had four runs in the first, two in the second, six in the third, and five in the fourth.
Brenna Meyer pitched all five innings for GOCC, striking out two while allowing three hits and one unearned run in the fifth inning. Offensively, the Vikings had only eight hits, while drawing nine walks to help score their 17 runs.
Everyone in the Glen Oaks lineup scored at least once. Sierra Smith had three runs, one hit, three RBI, two walks, and three stolen bases. Sage Pruett had three hits, including a double, scoring twice with three RBI. Brady Lesher and Dakota Sigler also doubled. Brianna Wiley, Kacie Scott, and Meyer each scored twice.
The sweep puts Glen Oaks at 2-2 in the MCCAA Western Conference and 7-5 overall. Conference play continues with a scheduled doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Kalamazoo Valley.
