Vikings get season sweep vs. Ancilla
GOCC softball wins twice on the road.
The Glen Oaks Community College softball team finished off its season sweep of Marian University's Ancilla Monday, rattling off 9-1 and 14-0 victories on the road in contests that were made up after being rescheduled from earlier this year.
The Vikings improved to 20-10 overall and 15-7 in Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference play.
In Game 1, GOCC posted a run in the second and fourth innings before exploding for five runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth on a total of 10 hits. Sierra Smith, Aimee Reinhardt and Aubrey Mealor all had two hits. That included a double and 2 RBI for Reinhardt. Brady Lesher also drove in a pair of runs for Glen Oaks.
Ava Mejia got the win in the circle, allowing just one hit and no earned runs in six innings. She struck out six batters.
In Game 2, Glen Oaks jumped all over Ancilla early with a four-run first inning. The Vikings tacked on another nine runs in the third and one more in the fourth on a total of 7 hits.
Mealor went 4-for-4 at the dish with 6 RBI, including a single in the first inning that plated three runs. She added a double to round out the day.
Brenna Meyer pitched five scoreless innings with two hits allowed and a strikeout in the victory.
