Vikings fall on the road at Lansing
Glen Oaks softball fell 9-1 and 7-0 Thursday in their road doubleheader against first place Lansing Community College. The defeats put the Vikings at 16-12 overall in the MCCAA Western Conference and 21-15 overall.
In the first game, the Vikings had the opening run in the second inning. Their only hit of the game came on a solo home run by Aimee Reinhardt. That was the ninth homer of the season for Reinhardt, who also leads the team with 36 RBI. The Stars scored five runs in the third inning, two in the fourth, and two in the fifth. Lansing outhit Glen Oaks 11-1.
Game two was a pitcher's duel initially with a 1-0 score after four innings. Lansing opened with a first inning run, then later added two in the fifth and four in the sixth inning. The Stars leadoff hitter Malea Gardner would hit three solo home runs.
Glen Oaks was again held to one hit, this time a single by Kacie Scott. She also was the only Viking to draw a walk in the game.

GOCC closes the regular season at Jackson College Saturday in a doubleheader. Positioning in the final standings is very much at stake as the Vikings could finish as high as second or as low as fourth. Entering Friday, Lake Michigan College is second at 16-10 with four games to play. Glen Oaks is third at 16-12 and Jackson is fourth at 14-14.
