With dominant pitching and electric bats Sunday at home, the Glen Oaks Community College softball team swept Marian University's Ancilla College to improve to 10-14 overall and 8-6 in Michigan Community College Athletic Association play.
Game 1
Glen Oaks 15, Ancilla 1
Grace Blanchard drove in four runs on two hits to help propel Glen Oaks at the plate in a blowout victory. Blanchard singled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring two.
After Blanchard got things going in the first, Timmery Hunter grounded out, scoring another run. The Vikings extended their early lead with four runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Addison Harris and Audrie Dugan. GOCC tacked on another run in the third when Harris singled to left field on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, making the score 8-0.
The Vikings scored seven runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Bailey Trail hit into a fielder's choice, Hunter scored after tagging up, Sage Pruett singled, scoring one run, Aimee Reinhardt doubled, scoring two runs, and Blanchard singled, scoring two runs.
Dugan was the winning pitcher after giving up five hits and one run over five innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Glen Oaks amassed 14 hits in the game. Dugan paced GOCC with three hits in three at bats. Pruett, Harris, and Reinhardt each collected multiple hits for the Vikings. Brianna Wiley added two stolen bases and Hunter made the most plays with nine in an error-free outing by the squad.
Game 2

Glen Oaks opened the scoring in the bottom of the second thanks to a solo homer by Dugan and a two-out, three-run bomb by Pruett.
The Vikings piled on in the bottom of the third inning when Cassidi Parham singled, scoring one run, and Bella Monsma tripled, scoring three runs. Glen Oaks added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on four hits. Reinhardt homered to center field, scoring two runs, Trail doubled, scoring one run, and Parham singled, scoring one run.
Reinhardt started in the circle for the Vikings and the righty gave up three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out four and walking four.
Hunter, Reinhardt, Trail, and Parham each collected two hits for GOCC. Pruett and Monsma each drove in three runs.
