The Glen Oaks Community College softball team opened the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach with a 1-1 day.

Glen Oaks Community College fell 5-4 to Bryant & Stratton College on Saturday at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Glen Oaks opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when freshman Kourtney Zarycki (LF) grounded out to score one run.
Bryant & Stratton tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third on a sacrifice bunt by Bryant & Stratton College. The Vikings answered in the bottom half of the inning as Zarycki delivered a sacrifice fly to give Glen Oaks a 2-1 lead.
Bryant & Stratton evened the score in the fourth with the help of a Glen Oaks error.
The Vikings regained the advantage in the bottom of the fourth when freshman Hannah Brinks (1B) hit a sacrifice fly to put Glen Oaks ahead 3-2.
Bryant & Stratton took the lead for good in the fifth inning. A two-run single by Bryant & Stratton College made it 4-3, and a groundout added another run to extend the margin to 5-3.
Glen Oaks plated a run later in the game but could not complete the comeback.
Freshman Grace Zimmerman (3B) paced the Vikings at the plate, going 3-for-3. Zarycki drove in two runs, and Glen Oaks drew four walks.
Sophomore Audrie Dugan (P) took the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits over five innings while striking out eight and walking one. Freshman Brooklynn Root (P) tossed two scoreless innings in relief, striking out four.
Bryant & Stratton collected seven hits in the game. Bryant & Stratton College, Bryant & Stratton College and Bryant & Stratton College each recorded two hits. Bryant & Stratton stole three bases and turned one double play.
Glen Oaks Community College 19, Vermont State–Johnson 4
Glen Oaks Community College erupted for 19 runs on 17 hits to defeat Vermont State–Johnson 19-4 on Saturday at 150 Citizens Circle in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Freshman Maddy Lewis (2B) led the offensive surge, going 3-for-3 with a double. She doubled in the first inning and added singles in the third and fourth.
Glen Oaks broke the game open in the bottom of the first inning, scoring six runs. Sophomore Audrie Dugan (CF) doubled to bring home two runs, two Vermont State–Johnson errors each plated a run, freshman Braylyn Hernandez (RF) singled to score one, and Lewis doubled to drive in another.
The Vikings added two runs in the second inning to extend the lead to 8-0 after freshman Grace Zimmerman (3B) drew a walk that made it 8-0.
Glen Oaks continued to build the margin in the third. Freshman Madi Hosbein (P) doubled down the left-field line, freshman Josie Stephenson (LF) hit a sacrifice fly, sophomore Grace Blanchard (SS) hit a sacrifice fly, and Zimmerman doubled to center field, each driving in a run.
The Vikings put the game out of reach in the fourth, scoring seven runs on eight hits. Hosbein doubled to bring in two runs, freshman Elizabeth Flores (C) singled home one, Stephenson singled to score one, Blanchard doubled in a run, freshman Brooklynn Root (1B) singled to plate one, and Lewis singled to add another.
Hosbein finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Lewis recorded three hits, while freshman Paige Davis (CF), Dugan and Hernandez each collected multiple hits.
Freshman Cassie Holland (P) earned the win, allowing no hits and no runs over two innings while striking out four and walking three. Hosbein worked two innings in relief, allowing four runs on four hits. Freshman Hannah Brinks (1B) pitched one scoreless inning, striking out one and walking one.
Glen Oaks did not commit an error. Flores led the defensive effort with five putouts.
Vermont State–Johnson finished with four hits and seven walks. Vermont State–Johnson received two hits from the leadoff spot and one RBI each from Vermont State–Johnson, Vermont State–Johnson, Vermont State–Johnson and Vermont State–Johnson.
