The Grand Rapids Community College women's basketball team improved to 4-0 in the MCCAA Western Conference Saturday after a 79-34 win over Glen Oaks.
Shooting 41.9 percent fro the field as a team, GRCC boasted three players with double figures, led by a 19-point performance by Tianna Daye.
Glen Oaks freshman Zy'Asija Scott led the team with 7 points before being ejected in the third quarter for a flagrant foul. Reserve Braylyn Hernandez posted 5 points, Jordyn Partee, Tayler Denton, Jayla Parker-Vincent and Cami Turpin each recorded 4 for the Vikings. Shelby McDaniel and Tracy Ackley each finished with 2 points.
The Vikings were 15-for-64 from the field (23.4 percent), 1-for-19 from beyond the arc and were outscored 17-3 at the foul line in an overall tough outing coming off a win over Kellogg Wednesday. GOCC dropped to 6-12 overall and 1-3 in MCCAA Western Conference play. The team heads to Marian University's Ancilla College Monday for a makeup game against the Chargers.
