Shudell to play at Kuyper College
White Pigeon native to continue career in Grand Rapids.
A second Viking is headed to Kuyper College this fall. Outgoing Glen Oaks Community College sophomore basketball player Leigha Shudell, who hails from White Pigeon, will continue her studies and hoops career at Kuiper College in Grand Rapids. She joins former teammat Jayla Parker-Vincent at the National Christian College Athletic Association Division II program.
Shudell, who played at Kalamazoo Valley as a freshman, appeared in 27 games this past season for GOCC (18 starts) and shot 25.4 percent from the field en route to 6.3 points per game. She averaged 5.8 rebounds per contest and tallied 19 total assists and 29 steals for the year.
"Leigha has an infectious personality that only positively impacts her team," Glen Oaks head coach Emilee Hendron said. "And she has the added benefit of being a matchup problem on the court. She can get inside and bang around with the best but can also stretch the floor and knock down outside shots. Kuyper is getting another good one and we're excited to see Leigha continue to grow."
