Volleyball Player of the Week: Alicyn Arevalo

Following a strong performance in two matches at the Owens Invitational Saturday and a fine effort in Tuesday's match at Jackson, freshman Alicyn Arevalo was named the Sturgis Bank Volleyball Player of the Week by the Glen Oaks coaching staff. 

Arevalo, a Mendon product, compiled 17 kills, seven blocks, three assists and six digs over the last three matches for the Vikings. 

"Alicyn comes to practice everyday ready to work hard and improve her skills," GOCC head coach Tracy Sterling said. "She is one of the first ones at practice and really enjoys putting in the hard work both in the gym and the weight room. As our team continues to gel, we are excited to see her growth over the next two months.

"Alicyn has really grown her middle hitting skills this year and she is hitting with power through blockers."
