Volleyball Player of the Week: Kaytlin Smith
Sophomore middle blocker recognized by GOCC coaching staff.
For the second time this season, Glen Oaks Community College sophomore middle blocker Kaytlin Smith has been named the Sturgis Bank Volleyball Player of the Week.
Smith performed well with 14 kills and a team-high hitting percentage of .219 in two home matches last week against Andrews University and Lake Michigan College.
"Her power and ability to hit through blocks is grabbing the attention of other teams, and they're attempting to triple block her to slow her down," Vikings head coach Tracy Sterling said.
Smith also tossed in four aces, two digs and four blocks in those two contests.
"She is definitely a game changer when she is firing on all cylinders," Sterling added. "We are excited to see her continued growth over the final few weeks of the season."
GOCC is on the road Tuesday vs. Ancilla and Thursday against Lansing.
