Schoolcraft College baseball bests Glen Oaks
Ocelots win single game in Centreville.
Glen Oaks Community College fell 14-4 to Schoolcraft College on Wednesday in the Vikings first home game of the 2026 spring season.
Schoolcraft jumped out early, scoring four runs in the first inning. A run-scoring single, a two-run double and another RBI single helped the Ocelots take a 4-0 lead.
Glen Oaks answered in the bottom of the inning. Sophomore Caleb Mallory (SS) hit a solo home run to left field, and freshman Devon Castro (C) grounded out to bring in another run and cut the deficit to 4-2.
Schoolcraft added four more runs in the second inning. A two-run double started the rally before a run-scoring single and an error extended the lead to 8-2.
The Ocelots continued to build their advantage with a run in the fourth, three in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Freshman Oliver Nisen (P) took the loss for Glen Oaks after allowing four runs in one-third of an inning. Freshman Caden Hall (P) worked 1 1/3 innings and allowed four runs, while sophomore Jayden Sloniker (P) pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief with three strikeouts. Freshman Reed Nelson (P) added a scoreless inning before freshman Christian Smigiel (P) closed the game.
Mallory and sophomore Logan O'Malley (RF) each collected two hits to lead the Vikings. Mallory and sophomore Teegan Helmle (3B) each drove in a run. Glen Oaks also turned one double play.
Schoolcraft finished with 15 hits. The Ocelots received four hits from one hitter and four from another, while four different players drove in two runs. Schoolcraft drew nine walks and stole six bases.
