Kellogg Community College defended home court Tuesday with a Michigan Community College Athletic Association victory over Glen Oaks, 25-20, 25-11 and 25-10.
Amya Shuppert led the Vikings with eight kills in the defeat with Kaytlin Smith adding six. Defensively, Alea Fisher had a team-high 17 digs. Riana Wilson contributed 12 digs and Alayna Wimberly added nine. Nicole Smothermon delivered 12 assists and Ta'lor Ward had nine assists. Smothermon was lost for the match early in the second set with an ankle sprain.
The result in their penultimate match moved Glen Oaks to 4-7 in the MCCAA Western Conference and 6-14 overall, while the Bruins improved to 15-13 overall and 5-6 in conference. The Vikings close the 2023 campaign with a trip Thursday to Kalamazoo Valley at 6:30 p.m. ET.
